Disembarking Sun Princess In Barcelona | Sun Princess Mediterranean Cruise

We have about 12 hours until our flight home to Singapore, so we explored Barcelona on our own!

All good things come to and end, and that’s no different for our voyage aboard Princess Cruisesnewest and most stunning Love Boat, Sun Princess. After 7 nights and more than 1,700 nautical miles (3,148 km) sailed, we have arrived at our destination — Barcelona, Spain. We have about 12 hours until our flight home departs, so we planned to explore the city before heading to the airport.

Barcelona is one of Europe’s most popular cruise ports, equipped with multiple terminals to house some of the world’s largest cruise ships. Sun Princess was alongside early, so we got to see other cruise ships arrive into the port as well.

Disembarkation & Airport Transfer

This morning, we will be catching an Airport Transfer from Barcelona Cruise Terminal to Barcelona International Airport. We will drop our bags off at Baggage Storage, then head back into the city for some sightseeing.

Goodbye Sun Princess!

Guests on an Airport Transfer can self-carry their luggage off the ship, but be sure to be on time for the transfer! We chose to take our bags on our own, so we didn’t have to rush to pack last night.

On our bus now. Today, we also shared the port with the Viking Jupiter and Disney Dream.

Exploring Barcelona

From the airport, we took a taxi into Barcelona, and hopped on one of Barcelona’s tourist Hop-On-Hop-Off Buses.

We usually don’t use the tourist bus services, but with only 12 hours, it was a quick and convenient way to see a bit more of Barcelona. The buses dropped us off at some of Barcelona’s popular tourist attractions, and cost €33 for a 24-hour pass, and €44 for a 48-hour pass. Children’s fares are also available.

Tickets are sold at the Official Tourist Information Booths, located all around the city at prominent tourist attractions like Plaça de Catalunya, and they also give you a discount coupon booklet that can be used at various attractions throughout the city.

The Barcelona BusTuristic service has two routes serving the north and south of Barcelona.

Casa Batllo, one of the many buildings designed by famed architect Antoni Gaudi.

Casa Milà.

Basílica de la Sagrada Família, one of the pinnacles of Antoni Gaudi’s career as an architect.

Heading Home

We took a taxi back to the airport to collect our luggage and check-in for our flight.

Special Thanks

As is any cruise voyage, a lot goes into making the experience a fantastic one. As such, we’d like to extend our gratitude to the ship’s company of Sun Princess — the more-than-1,600 officers and crew of the Sun Princess who have worked tirelessly kept us safe, healthy, fed and entertained throughout the past week. We appreciate the hard work they do to ensure all guests receive an exceptional level of service, and to provide an extraordinary vacation experience to all.

We’d also like to extend our thanks to Princess Cruises, for the wonderful opportunity to showcase their brand new Love Boat, Sun Princess on her inaugural season. It has been a privilege to cruise with the Sun Princess, being able to showcase this magnificent ship to our readers in Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond.
