The Last Sea Day | Sun Princess Mediterranean Cruise

The weather from Naples to Barcelona today isn’t the best. But it takes more than heavy seas and strong winds to shut down the Sun Princess!

The SeaWalk aboard Sun Princess.

Princess Cruises’ Sun Princess left Naples, Italy yesterday, bound for Barcelona, Spain. Today, we find ourselves crossing both the Tyrrhenian Sea and Baleriac Sea, transitioning between the two as we sailed past the islands of Corsica and Sardinia.

The island of Sardinia, as seen from our balcony on the Port side, as our ship sailed westbound.

Unfortunately, 40-knot winds and heavy seas meant we mostly we stayed indoors. But bad weather doesn't shut the Sun Princess down, as the ship still went on with its planned activities.

Sun Princess took on these waves well!

Morning Activities

Early risers in need of a simple workout can head to The Piazza on Deck 7, where they have a Zumba class.

This morning, we stayed in bed, prefer to take things slow after four intense days. We opted to relax on our Cabana Balcony, and also begin editing the photos and writing the blog posts we’d post for the trip.

Nothing like a snack and a cocktail while enjoying the beautiful sea views.

Lunch At Alfredo’s Pizzeria

Alfredo’s Pizzeria is the Sun Princess’ signature Pizza restaurant.

Here, all pies are prepared-to-order in an open-concept kitchen. Feel free to take a peek at your pizza prepared fresh, then baked in the oven behind.

Dining here incurs a cover charge, which includes one pizza or calzone, one appetizer and one dessert. And with the portion sizes, we’d say this is pretty reasonable, maybe even good value!

Antipasto Platter

Pizza Tarantina

Final Shopping Run

After lunch, we headed to The Shops Of Princess to do a little more shopping. On sea days, the shops are open all day. Guests have plenty of options, from Princess Cruises branded merchandise, to fragrances and fine jewellery, all available at duty-free prices.

We got some gifts for our team members at home.

Enjoying A Drink At Wake View Bar

The Wake View Terrace is one our most-loved places aboard Sun Princess. Here, the views are simply unbeatable.

This cocktail is called “Driftwood”, and has flavours of banana.

Dinner at Sabatini's Italian Trattoria

For dinner, we enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner at Sabatini's Italian Trattoria — Princess Cruises’ Italian specialty restaurant, serving up traditional Italian cuisine, with regional influences from multiple parts of Italy.

Sabatini’s can be found on many ships in the Princess Cruises fleet, and we had a great experience with Sabatini’s on the Diamond Princess during our Japan’s Southern Islands Cruise last year.

Sabatini’s on Sun Princess.

Meals at Sabatini’s are a six-course affair.

Polenta Fries with Tomato Sugo di Pomodoro

Classic Beef Carpaccio

Tender Grilled Lamb Chops

Tuscan-style Panzella Bread Salad

Lobster Tortelloni

Tiramisu

Ordering Photograph Prints

Before retiring for the night, we went to the Photo Gallery on Deck 9 to order a few photo prints. Guests with the Princess Premier package are also entitled to three photo prints included in the price of the package.

Tomorrow, we will be disembarking Sun Princess in Barcelona, Spain.
